We are a Finnish poprock trio catchingly combining pop elements to progressive soft rock. The band was founded in Helsinki by Mikko Järvenpää and Antti-Jussi (AJ) Valkama in 2019 and joined by Antti Lehtosalo.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the trio ?

So far we have composed all songs jointly in the band while jamming together, most ideas or riffs have come from and joined together by Mikko and/or AJ.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

Mikko has come up with most of the lyrics. The themes range from search of personal happiness (latest single release Grace) to relationships (first single 90 Degrees). Sometimes we ourselves aren't certain what the lyrics are about (Grandmother, b-side of 90 Degrees single).

Why the name WEG ?

Originally we had a different name for the project but later Mikko and AJ came up with the name WEG as a result of a long evening composing, taking promo pictures and enjoying a couple of beers. Sounded European and funky enough for our style.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

The range of musical influencers for us is quite wide. All of us have played metal before and share fond interest in early Nordic Death metal, but we also dig softer stuff in rock and pop. Mikko also listens to and produces house and techno music. For both Mikko and AJ, Swedish poprock band Kent is one big influencer

How was the shooting of the clip GRACE ? and why this choice ?

Antti came up with the idea of shooting his first bass solo on top of a mountain so we decided to make a slight detour in our Lapland trip earlier this Fall and go shoot part of the video in Pallas National Park. I'm sure Antti did not consider how cold it could be and it sure was cold for October (-9 degrees Celsius with strong winds). Grace as a song also benefits from fresh and wintery mountain views as the theme is about finding personal happiness - I often find peace in nature - and it's a perfect contrast to the indoors shooting we also did for the video.

With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?

So far we work as independent band and because of COVID-19 outbreak we haven't done any tours yet. But once events can be held again , we'll surely tour around. And are already discussing options of cooperation with certain labels and booking agents.

Would you like to work with an artist ? If so who ?

There would be many, but first off our mind it would be awesome to work at some point with Joakim Berg (Kent).

What are your projects ?

Well our other projects include: Mikko produces house/techno music under the name Migijay and is singer and guitarist of metal band Arkadia. AJ plays bass and sings vocals in soft punkrock band Rosewood, which is his main project at the moment. Antti's main band is Weg at the moment, although he jams every now and then with various musicians.

What do you expect from the future ?

Time together to continue creating good and grooving music. Being able to perform songs live and affect people in a positive manner with good vibes because of our music.

What's your motto ?

"All I need is 90 Degrees. "
