Who composed and wrote the new album HEROES ?...How did it take place in the « new Sabaton » ?
The new album Heroes was mostly written by Joakim Brodén, since he has been the main sonwriter and Composer in SABATON since day one. But there was collaboration made on the songs Soldier Of 3 Armies, wich Joakim wrote together with guitarplayer Thobbe Englund. Also one of the bonus tracks called Man of War was written together with new drummer Hannes Van Dahl. I think and felt like everyone was extremely hungry to put out a record that kicks ass, and especially for the new guys in the band it´s important to make a good stamp and impression. I think all of us had a blooded tooth to release the best record possible. And I think we did.
The texts are different than in the previous albums..about what are they talking ?..How did inspiration came ?
The planning for Heroes has been in the pipeline for many years, and now was the time to make it happen. This time around it´s not as much about a whole nations history or a certain battle. Is more focused on the individual stories behind the curtain. We get stories sent to us all the time from fans all over the world. And some of these stories are better than any hollywood script... The only diffrence is that they are true. And with some help with translation and further research we were able to collect the most hearbreaking and amazing stories. It´s really an album you should take the time and dig into the lyrics and check out the stories.
What was the ambiance in studio for the new album HEROES ?
The studio sessions were once again held at the Abyss Studio, with Peter Tägtgren behind the desk. Our collaboration with Peter was once again very succesful and I know that all of us enjoy working together with him. He´s one of thoose guys that brings the best out of the person on the other side of the control room. And as I said earlier, all of us were stoked to both write and record Heroes. Everyone stayed in the studio for the whole progress more or less, showing the interest and the vibe was inspiratonal and with high expectations. For me this was the fastest recording iv´e ever done. Three to four songs a day and not to talk about the guitars that were recorded in two days...
How did it work for the design of the CD ?
Once again we decided to work with the amazing Peter Sallai. He totally gets the concept of Sabaton and delivers everytime. Not much more to say ! There were two different designs made of Heroes. Check his art out at : http://www.mortpaintgraphics.com
