Present yourself to the audience

Hi, this is Kirsten from Bloodflowerz/Germany. After a long time of silence since the release of our last album and the following shows and festivals we're back with a new album called "Dark Love Poems". We hope you'll take the chance to listen to it... the new songs show you emotions without compromise... a dark ride through your deepest obsessions...

What musicstyle do you prefer personaly and what are your influences ?

I personally grew up with the records of my parents, who were big fans of the 80ies-wave-music. So I began to love The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Fields, The Clash, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. These bands are still my favourites. Through the years I discovered lots of great bands from darkwave, ebm to metal, rock'n'roll and punk. Actually I like some of the so called "Horrorpunk"-Bands, like Nim Vind, a lot!
I think every musician is influenced by all the things which impress the own picture of life and music and broaden your horizon. Even something you don't like much can appeal and inspire you. Music is a very emotional and personal thing and a product of all your experiences and visions -also the unconscious ones. Mostly you cannot - or should not - analyse it, but put the deepest emotions in it. So I cannot overlook all the bands or musical experiences which influenced me and the band... I try to find the emotional emphasis every song needs.
The musical influences of the other band members differ from mine more or less... Tim and Jan prefer more the "harder" spheres of metal, rock and funk. Jochen likes also wavemusic, true rock like U2 and sometimes metal...
So you see, we complete another very well to create the unique Bloodflowerz-Sound...:-)

What's your opinion about the actual rock-metal scene in Germany ?

Unfortunately I didn't have much time to keep an eye on the scene for the last year.. but there is and was always a strong movement of new motivated, inspired and very good german bands. And I think it is one of the best and hugest scenes in Europe, as you can see in the different metal-, gothic- and rockfestivals. And these festivals are a very important part to keep the people together. I like it when bands of different styles play together with the possibility to unite people. Bands and fans should be open minded and let themselves inspire by others. Mostly we experience the mood of the scene as very international, the collective speech is music itself.

What is your best live memorie ? And why ?

Do you mean live as "playing a show" or life ???
I try to answer both :-)
In life: I can remember some situations and experiences which mark important points in my life. Every situation was special and important for its time, some fade during the years. The most important ones... surely the discovery of music and my first drum-set, 'cause this was the beginning of a deep obsession and finding sense in life. ...the adrenalin and ecstatic feeling while acting on stage - this is a memory I keep alive with every new show! ...not very special, but when I write a song, there is a point of very deep satisfaction - then I know that I've found the right way of expression. ...and also a memory that is still present all the time - when I found true and deep love...
Live situation: Always when there is the special and unique agreement between band and audience! This can be with thousands of people like on the Mera Luna or the Summerbreeze, where we had such great shows, or with just a handful of true fans in a small club...a great show also depends on the mood of the audience...

What would be the festival of your dreams ? (with you playing in it of course !)

There are a lot of festivals we dream to play on - Roskilde, Wacken, Ozz-Fest, Mera Luna once again... Would be great to play abroad, maybe Spain, Mexico, Japan...with the bands we like the most and lots of screetching fans...Hope this dream comes true one day :-))

What do you expect from the future ?

That my dreams and visions, I worked on for years, will come true...that I and the band will get the chance to play in front of fantastic people, who like our music, to give them a great time and to be inspired by life to write a wonderful new album.

What is your motto in life ?

Best motto is life itself - to create myself a life full of true and deep emotions, love, joy, attraction, visions, dreams and "heartblood" - and to go on through all ups and downs with the power of my believe to be able to realize all my dreams...

Is there something you'd like to say to the audience ?

Enjoy all your emotions - even if they are sad or cruel - be proud to really feel yourself and take the chance to use the feelings for growing. Hope you'll find some of these deep emotions reflected in the songs on "Dark Love Poems" - and we hope you'll like the album! All the Best, keep the fire ablaze, yours
