We are melodic rock music band from Pilsen. The band was founded in summer 2006. After first EP "Life Is Better" the band released full debut album "Call Me Closer" in 2012. Last album “Missfortune” was released in 2018.

What’s the story for MISSFORTUNE ?

We started recording this album for quite a long time ago and it was interrupted by various reasons. Mostly at least one of a band member travels for several month abroad or have a broken arm. When we finally finished the album and release it, we discovered that some US band owns a trademark for our name and we have to cancel the release and rename the band. We considered all of it as some kind of misfortune. The album is also about human relations which which could be bad from one perspective but from other perspective they can enrich you somehow. That’s why Missfortune.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

Usually one of us brings and idea and the rest start building a song around it, so all of us are composers. After all these years we know what we can expect from each other and it makes the whole process a lot easier. It is some kind of chemistry that happen between people more than putting some melodies together.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

The main inspiration is brought by various states of mind we don’t visit very often. This happens when it’s hard to fall asleep for somehow ambivalent thoughts making your mind haunted. Sometimes it’s painful, sometimes you’re waiting just for these moments as if they were the reasons for brighter tomorrows.

Why the name EARTHLY ORBIT ?

Originally, our name was “Tribal Theory” but as I said, one US band owns a trademark for this name so we have to change it. Earthly Orbit is and anagram to the original name and I think it describes our minds, creation processes and interactions much better.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

We all grew up on Red Hot Chilli Peppers, so we tend to be melodic all the time. Lately we listen to little bit more rock music like Foo Fighters, Queens of The Stone Age or smaller underground bands like The Virginmarys and it has an impact to our music. The most rock songs on the Missfortune album are newest. However, I think that the effort to stay melodical is still present there. You can’t get rid of something that is part of you for such a long time.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

I don’t know, there is a lot of great memories from amazing live shows but what I appreciate most are the moments from practice room when we just mess around and keep laughing about some ridiculous riff. No matter what you are going through in your personal life, you can rely on the others which makes you laugh.

In studio, what was the ambiance for the album MISSFORTUNE ?...etc.…

We recorded the entire album in our practice room and produce it ourselves so no one else was disturbing us. It was like some kind of meditation with hypnotising view from our window to the sunset above railway station. It was really nice.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

The design is just and expression of the title and it is again made by us on our own. It was shooted in bedroom of one of us and we had to shoot it twice till we were fully satisfied.

How was the shooting of the clip BREAK ME ? and why this choice ?

The video for break me was just made for social media because we cannot put there just audio. There is no special story behind it.

Did you find a label ? If yes, how do you made the research ?

No we did not. We are an independent band and we are making music for fun. We had some meetings with promoters or managers but they wanted us to pretend being someone else and they were asking for tons of money for making us famous. So we rather stay underground but in the way we want to.

With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?

Anyone can simply write us on email, message on facebook page or direct message to any band member and we will try to give you answers as soon as possible.

What are your projects ?

We don’t have any other projects. We are just a regular people living a regular lives and having regular jobs. That’s it.

What do you expect from the future ?

We would like to enjoy the music at the first place. Anything more will be just a bonus.

Be grateful for what you have and treat it with respect. Not everyone is so lucky.
