Present yourself to the readers

We are Krypton 81. Electro-duo from Copenhagen Denmark, formed by Per Lind and Martin Stoffregen.

What’s the story for your new album Concorde ?

The entire album is a tribute to the British/French supersonic passenger airplane that entered service in 1976 and flew for the next 27 years. The plain flew at a speed of Mach 2,4 and was one of only two supersonic passenger airplanes that has ever flown. We think that a Technologic wonder like this deserves an album named after it.

Why did you choose this style of music ?

Electro was the first genre using only electronic instruments like synthezisers and drummachines. Like blues music is the predessor of all rockgenres, electro is the predessor to all electronic music genres. We like the vibe of electro, and the scientific and technologic theme that has become a tradition in the genre. So even though this genre is very overlooked and underapreciated, it is the most interesting and important genre to us.

Why the name KRYPTON 81 ?

Krypton 81 is a rare radioactive gas isotope with a half-life of 230.000 years. It was discovered very late in science history by a strange coinsidence. We think that the rarity and mystery of this element fit our project very well.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

We have many inspirations, not only within electronic music. The sound of our music is inspired by all the music we heard in our life. Here is a few of the artists that comes to our mind: D.A.F. Nitzer Ebb, Ministry, My Bloody Valentine and Fugazi. And ofcause we found inspiration in founders and pioneers of electro music like; Gerald Donald, Anthony Rother and Kraftwerk.

In studio, what was the ambiance for the album CONCORDE ?...etc.…

It was like this album just happened by itself. We were in a production flow driven by the inspiration of the Concorde plane... the technology, design and legacy of the aircraft. There were also frustrations. A lot of work were scraped and a lot of fully produced tracks were thrown away to keep the quality of the album satisfying.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

The cover art is done by a photographer named Zane Apsa hired by our label “Blind Allies”. The idea is to express the elegance of the Concorde plane in an artfull way. We are very happy with the result.

What are your projects ?

Future projects... More vinyl is coming. And one gig in Holland in september is about to be confirmed.

What do you expect from the future ?

We expect to be releasing more vinyl, and hope to play live as much as possible.

What's your motto ?

Keep it punk!

What would you like to say to the readers ?

Keep your mind open. There is a lot of good music out there, you just have to dig it up. Dont let the commercial radio dictate what music you listen to. And remember when you buy music you support the music label, and the music label support the artist by puplishing the music. So you can help keeping good music alive.
