Present yourself to the readers

We are FLEISCH, a 3 piece Industrial Metal band from England. The band consists of John Demon (Guitar & Vocals), Ruby Alexia (Bass) and Connal Bower (Drums). The band started as John Demon’s solo project and had a few lineup changes until the band as it is now came together in 2013. We released our first album ‘Mine’ in 2016, ‘Control EP’ in 2018 and our latest EP called ‘British’ was released on 13th December 2019. Over the last 6 years we have performed all over the UK and have also played shows in Belgium and Germany. Our live show is not to be missed.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

John Demon writes the music and often has a few ideas for the lyrics. The 3 of us then come together at our rehearsal space or the studio to complete the lyrics together and see what works. This process works very well most of the time but there have been occasions where we have written and recorded a song and then decided not to release it or play it live.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

The 3 of us usually write the lyrics together after listening to the music that John Demon has composed. The inspiration for the lyrics can come from anywhere and how any one of us is feeling at the time. We often touch on darker subjects such as insanity and cannibalism. Sometimes life is Dark.

Fleisch

Why the name FLEISCH ?

We are fans of Neue Deutsche Härte bands such as Rammstein, Eisbrecher and Ost+Front so it’s a nod to that. You can definitely hear that influence in our music. It’s also short, simple, easy to remember and looks great on our backdrop.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

We listen to all styles of music between us. We have been known to listen to everything from Elvis Presley to Rob Zombie when travelling to shows. In our music you can definitely hear the influence of Neue Deutsche Härte, but there is a lot a lot of influence from 80s bands like Depeche Mode and New Order.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

Our best live memory is from a music festival in Hamburg, Germany. We had travelled from England in our van and had no idea what to expect when we arrived. This was the first time we had been invited to Germany in our own right as before we had travelled to support Ost+Front. From the moment we started playing the crowd were right behind us and we had an amazing show from start to finish. It definitely made the 15 hour drive worthwhile.

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new EP BRITISH ?...etc.…

When we record anything it is often done over many weeks and months due to us having busy day jobs. The song ‘British’ has become a fan favourite and the main pressure was to make that song in particular sound as big on the EP as it does live. We are very proud of how the whole EP has turned out.

Fleisch

With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?

At the moment we are completely independent and manage everything ourselves giving us complete control. We have endorsements from EMG Pickups, StrapGraphics Guitar Straps, London Drumstick Company and AD Custom Drums.

What are your projects ?

Whilst playing shows to promote the new EP, we are also getting ready to release a video for ‘British’ which will be out very soon. We have plans to release another full length album in late 2020.
