Present yourself to the readers
I'm a songwriter, singer, guitarist and producer from Sweden. I write and record my music all by myself in my home studio. So far, I have released six albums, seven singles and one EP.
Your texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ? and your music ?
When I write lyrics, it all starts with a thought, an emotion or a title. It's like the song writes itself sometimes. You play with words and phrases and melodies, and finally you have a finished song. Some lyrics are difficult to explain, so I think it's up to the listener to make his or her interpretation of the song. I also write about things going on in the world right now. It's a way of processing all these horrible things you hear on the news. I never wait for inspiration to come, I just work hard and write, write, write! Some songs can be written in 10 minutes, others can take days. Musically, I’m influenced by other bands, but I think I have found my own sound and I’m comfortable with that. I know what kind of melodies and arrangements I want for a song.
Are you day or night ?
Night.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I started writing songs at the age of eleven, and my main inspiration was the Swedish duo, Roxette. As a teenager I listened to bands like Suede, Radiohead and U2. But the band that influenced me the most was R.E.M. To me, their music was perfect; the melodies, the lyrics, the arrangements. My way of writing songs changed completely when I discovered R.E.M. Nowadays, I prefer metal, especially Gothic metal. Even though Boy In The Shadows is not a metal project, bands like Paradise Lost, Amorphis, Type O Negative, Theatre of Tragedy and Nightwish have inspired me a lot.
Generally, what's the reaction of the public during your concerts ?
I haven't yet made any gigs under the artist name, Boy In The Shadows. But I will. Right now, I'm looking for musicians so I can start performing live.
What are your future dates ?
Nothing yet, but hopefully there will be several gigs later this year.
