Hi this is Garett from Prism Tats.
Your music and your texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
I'd say the vibe of the songs overall are dark and cynical but at the same, positive and humorous. Inspiration comes from an idea that could be sparked by anything. The sound of a drum or something someone said or a scene from a film. I seldom set out with a specific goal with the music or lyrics and would rather create a definitive mood while leaving room for the the listener to make their own interpretation.
Why the name PRISM TATS ?
It came from a conversation with my brother-in-law years prior to me starting Prism Tats. We were talking about band names and he suggested The Prism Tats which I immediately loved and made a point to remember for the next project I worked on.
Are you day or night ? and why ?
Dusk and twilight. Not quite day not quite night.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I tend to get absorbed by a particular artist or album and listen to that obsessively. At the moment I'm listening to a lot of John Lennon - Mind Games and Brian Eno - Another Green World.
Generally, what's the reaction of the public during your concerts ?
Right now the reaction is that no one has ever heard of me and are mostly seeing me for the first time. We just finished a tour of the east and west coasts of the US and the reaction so far has been great.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
One of my best live memories was going home to play a show in Johannesburg a few years ago. People were dancing their asses off. It was so fun to play back in South Africa.
