Present yourself to the readers
My name is Vic Anselmo, I´m a singer and songwriter, a realist and a dreamer, fire and water. :) (I´m not kidding: I was born with 2 hours difference between two zodiac signs that are representing these elements:)
Your texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
My inspiration comes from life itself, from its ups and downs, from its funny, beautiful and pleasant, as well as awkward and painful experiences and of course from the emotions these experiences provoke to come to the surface. I also love to observe the world from aside, for example: sometimes when being in a crowded place, I like to imagine that I am invisible and I can simply observe and reflect what´s happening around me - imagining what kind of life and stories people around me might have (Social behaviour, psychology, people minds and tendencies are very interesting topics.) My texts are reflecting some of my thoughts, visions, feelings, experiences, but sometimes are just pure products of my imagination.
Are you day or night ?
Hmm, that´s a hard one:) I love the night because of its peaceful silence, which helps me to concentrate sometimes even better. (In fact it is 1:22 a.m, right now). But I also love the daytime because of its light and I am a huge fan of the sun, it makes me feel energized and happy.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I like music that has a special atmosphere, emotion, power in it or the music that has something special to say. I listen to lots of different genres starting from Classical Music ending with Death Metal and Punk, depending on my mood. Last Saturday I was at Ghost gig. This weekend going to see Tiger Lillies, never seen them live before, really excited. I heard they are great.
Generally, what's the reaction of the public during your concerts ?
Always positive as I recall:) There was just one gig in Riga long, long time ago, when I only started to perform and I didn´t even have any album released yet. It was a small empty pub, with two drunk guys standing near the stage and screaming in between the songs:" When is the disco going to start?" Was fun ! :D There was never a disco after though, poor guys...
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
Actually the last time I played at Castlefest in Netherlands was very special. I felt such an intensively warm atmosphere there, was so easy to communicate and connect with people from the stage.
What are your future dates ?
I´m joining Anneke van Giersbergen as a special guest at her gigs in April and may in Leipzig, Berlin, Hamburg and Oberhausen in Germany and Reuver in Netherlands. You can find the details at www.vicanselmo.com or my official facebook page.
