Conversation with a Ghost is a record about loss.
Losing a friend, a beloved one, losing your mental sanity, your perspective, losing your patience….
Your texts and your compositions ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
Well..see above :) Inspiration comes from life. I see things, I feel things..I tell those stories.
Are you day or night ?
both. mostly night tho.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I love Tom Waits, Mozart, Bach, Neil Young, Nina Simone, Leon Russell, Billy Holiday, Miles Davis… I don’t listen to a specific genre….whatever grabs and moves me.
What’s your top 5 albums of all time ?
Hard to say. My top 5 records change from day to day.
Today I can say: Simon and Garfunkel Live in Central Park, Tom Waits Raindogs, Mozart’s Requiem, Sail away by Randy Newman, David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
My next show…because I don’t ever know what to expect …
In studio, what was the ambiance for the new album CONVERSATION WITH A GHOST ?...etc.…
dark and raw. me on electric guitar, an upright base and a drum set with no cymbals in a room for 3 days.
Then after that we did some overdubs with great guests like Marc Ribot (Tom Waits’ guitarist) Joel Guzman (Paul Simon’s accordion player) , David Pulkingham (Patty Griffin), Gabriel Rhodes (Willie Nelson, Calvin Russell)…
What are your projects ?
I am touring the U.S. and Europe
What's your motto ?
Practice and be grateful. Don’t look at what others are doing. You can only live your life, not someone else’s.
