Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
Eric and Elijah write most of the material. Preston contributes some ideas as well. Most of the song arrangement is done by Elijah
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
Preston writes all of the lyrics, drawing inspiration from life experiences. The lyrics speak of lost love, lingering hate, constant turmoil, and tribulations of the human condition.
Why the name HEART OF JORDAN ?
“Jordan” is derived from the Hebrew “Yarden” (to flow down, descend) The band name “Heart of Jordan” uses this origin to express the idea of “falling" hearts or how love can consume someone physically and mentally.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
Not necessarily metal, but, as a young child I was highly influenced musically by my parents, older cousins, and my friends’ older siblings. I grew up listening to early Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and various sixties-seventies greats, among others. The metal lightbulb came on when a friend from school sold me an old CD he stole from his older brother. That CD was Metallica’s “…And Justice for All”. From there, influences include: Tool, Soundgarden, Nirvana, GNR, The Big Four, KSE, Earlier QOTSA, Faith No More, AIC, Sepultura, Korn, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Primus, etc.
Growing up, my father played in local bands and always had classic rock and 80’s rock/metal playing. I’ve always loved it when he played Alice in Chains. My first real passion for metal came when I heard Linkin Park for the first time. That changed everything for me and made me seek out more, introducing me to bands like Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Shinedown, and HIM.
When I was growing up I really connected with the big 4. The rawness of there guitar tones drew me in immediately. Then there was Pantara. They changed the game in metal world. Then when I had kids of my own and they started getting into music, they opened my mind to newer bands like Escape the Fate, Motionless in White and Bless the Fall. And that is where I get my drive to create music today.
I grew up listening to 80s metal like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Queensryche, Judas Priest with some Rush and Metallica in there. My more recent influences include Attack Attack, Tool, Pantera, and We Came as Romans.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for the album HEART OF JORDAN ?...etc.…
We recorded our album with Josh Schroeder at Random Awesome Studios in Michigan. The studio atmosphere was very comfortable, relaxed and conducive to making great music.
How does it work for the great design of the CD ?
Tony Midi designed our album cover. He is an illustrator who has worked with such artists as Asking Alexandria, Suicide Silence, and Parkway Drive
How was the shooting of the clip DENY ? and why this choice ?
The video was shoot took over 12 hours and was filmed in the middle of a forest. Everbody was dirty, sweaty and tired by the end of it. Especially Preston, who was literally buried alive. We chose Deny because it was the most developed song at that time that had all of the elements of our signature sound.
Did you find a label ? If yes, how do you made the research ?
We are currently searching for a label.
With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?
We are self managed and book our own shows at this time.
What are your projects ?
We are currently making plans for a Spring tour and writing new music for our next record.
What do you expect from the future ?
Our goal is to get our music out to as many people as possible and make a sustainably career from doing what we love.
