Present yourself to the readers

Hey we are Renascentia from Salem, Oregon in the USA! We're a five piece band with Elijah Reiter on vocals, Patrick "PJ" Goehring on guitar, Patrick "Rick" Allen on guitar as well, Mat Karren on drums, and Mario Rodriguez playing bass guitar.

What’s the story for Inheritance of ruin ?

We wanted to make an album where each song sort of captured it's own story. The writing came pretty naturally, instrumentals and lyrics. A few bumps in the recording process and some member changes were tough but we came out of it stronger and are proud of the album we've created.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

Elijah composed a lot of this album however everyone has 100% control of their respective instruments. Basically someone will write a song or part of a song and then we will all go over and make sure everyone agrees on parts.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

Elijah wrote all the lyrics on this record. All the lyrics are just made up stories, a lot of the inspiration does come from real events and situations though.

Why did you choose this style of music ?

We chose to make the music we make because we like how it sounds. It's just what we've always been drawn too.

Why the name RENASCENTIA ?

PJ and Elijah chose the name "Renascentia" meaning "rebirth" after the end of the last band they were in. Because Renascentia was sort of like the rebirth of that last band.

Renascentia

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

Some of the band's that we love and that inspire us are Veil Of Maya, Thy Art Is Murder, Bring Me The Horizon, Ten After Two, The Color Morale, Northlane, As I Lay Dying, Knights Of The Abyss, and way more than we can put here.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

PJ says "When we opened for Famous Last Words and Get Scared there was this one kid in the front of the crowd singing our song and I almost shit myself because I thought it was the most amazing thing ever."

In studio, what was the ambiance for the album INHERITANCE OF RUIN ?...etc.…

There wasn't much of a consistent vibe throughout the recording and writing process. All the songs were written apart from each other and it was very relaxed since we didn't have a release date or time frame in mind during the creation of the album. Also all the recording was done in home studios so we could take as much time as we needed without bleeding ourselves dry of funds so there was much less pressure during it all.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

We decided upon "Inheritance Of Ruin" because we thought it really went well with the dark themes and sounds in the songs. It's about us being born into and inheriting a world that's fucked up and ruined already. A lot of the songs are about dealing with this reality.

How was the shooting of the clip I WANT TO BLEED ? and why this choice ?

We decided to go with a live music video for "I Want To Bleed" because it's one of our favorites to play live and we think it's got a great atmoshpere for those kinds of visuals. Filming it was a lot of fun since we just had to do our usual thing which is always a good time.

Did you find a label ? If yes, how do you made the research ?

We haven't found a record label yet but we're not too worried about it. We're always on the lookout for new opportunities and such but we're content to be independent until something worthwhile comes our way.

With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?

We don't have a "manager" at the moment. We all look for shows independently but mostly get contacted through our Facebook page and Instagram. We're open to working with pretty much anyone and those are the best places to get in contact with us.

What are your projects ?

We're working on new music at the moment for a possible EP. No solid plans yet though.

What do you expect from the future ?

We definitely have plans to play a lot more shows in and out of state and start touring as soon as it's possible for us. We also write pretty fast so it's not unreasonable to expect new music fairly soon.

What's your motto ?

We don't really have one yet, we'll let you know when we do.
