Present yourself to the readers

Hello, we are kickstarter ritual, we are a stoner rock trio.
Fortu is our singer and drummer; Juliusz is our guitarist;
Gaby is our bassist.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

We all compose together, although drummer singer Fortu and guitar player, Juliusz are the only two in the band that wrote the entire album ‘Ready to take a ride’ (bassist Gaby joined the band after the album came out).

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

Texts have mostly been written by Fortu, he’s a great lyricist, all the songs have depth and they all are meaningful. He’s a great composer with awesome writing skills, his assonances are delightful! All the songs talk about personal matters objectified and placed in a form which everyone can relate to. Our song ‘Too Old’ is for example a ironic way of talking about growing older, yet sticking to your ideals no matter what happens around you: don’t get caught in the game!

Why the name KICKSTARTER RITUAL ?

We LOVE everything that moves and has wheels and an engine.
Particularly old school bikes, the ones that you have to push down very hard to start (that’s where the name comes from, the ritual of placing the kickstarter lever at the right hight and then jump on it with all your body weight. You don’t want to mess up with the lever, if it bounces back you risk to break your shin!)

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

GABY loves heavy metal. He also is crazy for modern blues, Gary Clark Jr, Jack White, Benjamin Clementine, as well as some pop music, (he LOVES Sia!);
JULIUSZ is crazy for 80’s sleaze and glam rock: Skid Row, Motley… He’s also a professional opera singer (baritone) so he is completely in love with classic music.
FORTU is the Stoner Rock lover, he loves bands like Graveyard, Truckfighters, Green Goblin..
We all recognise and respect the Black Heritage of the music we play and that is so present in all our songs, in both the melody and in the lyrics composition patterns.

What's your opinion about the current music scene in Italy ?

There is quite a great underground rock scene, but unfortunately most of it will remain underground. The live scene is saturated with Cover and Tribute bands that are just ruining what live music should be about and have completely uneducated young people, that now think that the only effective live music entertainment is the safe one, the one they know, the one they can singalong to. Instead, it might be time to start to switch off brains and turn on hearts when going to a gig, and be entertained in a whole different way, letting the entertainer transport the listener to new, unexplored tides. This said, young Italians can be the BEST crowd to be playing for: when they let themselves go, they are awesome, warm and passionate. There is also a quite large Italian Indie movement growing, and we were actually very happy to see many young people to one of these gigs that we went to.

What are your projects ?

We are about to start composing for our next album, which will be a big surprise not just for the people, but for us also, as we actually never composed together with this lineup! We are planning gigs for spring and summer and planning some European gigs throughout the year. We are in contact with a couple of agencies overseas, so there are good chances to end up in Japan and Australia (fingers crossed!!)

What's your motto ?

May your message be strong, your approach rough and your voice loud.

What would you like to say to the readers ?

We want to spread a message of tolerance, hope and unity. We believe in equal opportunities and we want to see young people from every ethnicity and gender start working together to make this world a fantastic place.
