Present yourself to the readers
Greetings! We are hardcore band My Hard Lesson from Czech Republic and you are reading Rock Your Underground!
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
We are five-piece band. Usually our guitarists come with an idea of a song or a riff and then we mix things up with a drummer and bassist. Our vocalist is trying to help with arranging things and such.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
It is a singer who wrote all of our texts. The texts are trying to point out personal problems and their solution. We are trying to sympathize with a people going through some personal issues. Being a growing adult is not that easy these days so inspiration comes quite often.
Why the name MY HARD LESSON ?
When we were starting the band the roaster were changing a lot. Our original singer should do the clean vocals only and play the bass. We used to have another singer who should do screams. We were trying to find a place to do rehearsals for about 6 months but without a success. Then the drummer left because he was on college and could not attend our practices, so our screamer does. That time we were only 3 buddies playing guitars and singing through the computer speakers in our parent's basement. About a year went by and we found our original drummer Paul who had a nice place to rehearsal. We invited a very close buddy of ours Martin to play the bass so our roaster was completed and we could finally compose some music together as a band. When it came to name of the band we simply looked in the past and how difficult it was to express ourselves through the music, we simply choose this name; My Hard Lesson.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
As a personal musical influences our drummer Paul, bass player Martin and our singer Franta loves new-era rappers but some heavy tunes too! Guitarists Matěj and Kuba grew up on pop-punk bands like Blink 182, Sum 41 and early hardcore bands that they are jamming to these days. Even some melodic and calming stuff. As a band, we are trying to create something very personal and kind of original. Like developing our own style and sound. In the beginning, it were the big bands like The Ghost Inside, Counterparts, early Bring Me The Horizon but even some pop-punk bands.
What's your opinion about the current music scene in Czech Republic ?
It could be better but we are not blaming anything. The big festivals are giving an opportunity to a smaller band, which is big step up. The biggest festivals in Czech Republic are actually heavy music based! There are always people showing up on our gigs and supporting us and there is a really friendly place for heavier music too. Hope that young upcoming bands from Czech Republic will have an opportunity to play abroad as much as we wish.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
We do not have one. Simply because every show is really wild and crowd goes crazy that much so we cannot even tell these things! Shout out to all our fans out there for being the best!
