Present yourself to the readers
We are Modern Mimes from Fort Lauderdale Fl. Modern Mimes is Adi Elcida Hernandez on vocals and guitar and Ernesto Paez on double-neck guitar/bass.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the duo ?
We both compose. Adi writes vocal melodies, acoustic guitar riffs, and lyrics. Ernesto creates drum patterns, writes guitar, and bass riffs.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
Adi writes the lyrics.Inspiration comes from many facets of emotion, observations, personal experiences, and dreams. The lyrics are never forced. I like to consider myself a vessel for which these messages flow through me to be delivered, like messages from a plane of an alternate existence. The lyrics on the album as a whole, touch upon subjects such as journeying through the deepest layers within yourself, battling self created/non created demons, and surrendering to your personal truth.
Why the name MODERN MIMES ?
The name Modern Mimes came to me one day as I was reminiscing a childhood memory. It was Halloween and I was about 6 or 7 years old, most girls my age were dressed up as pink power rangers or princesses but for some reason I was intrigued by a Mime costume. I felt I had a lot to say from a young age but didn't always feel I was able to verbally express it. I think as humans many of us feel this way and Modern Mimes is a reflection of humanity and all those truths that can be rather difficult to talk about. -Adi
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I grew up on heavy metal and grunge. As the years went by, I got into dark ambient/gothic music while still being intrigued by modern metal. -Ernesto I appreciate music that is authentic and has what I call "the feeling" regardless of genre.-Adi
In studio, what was the ambiance for the album “WAKE-UP” ?...etc.…
In the studio the ambiance was pretty laid back. We worked with our friend Mark Abramowitz from the band Terracode. His experience with recording and engineering really complimented what we were trying to accomplish on this album.
