Hey there! I’m Claudio and I play guitar.
Hi! I’m Francesco and I play drums.
Hi, I’m Matteo, I play bass and sing. We are Tanks and Tears from Italy and we started to play in 2013.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
Most of the songs are composed by me and Matteo, usually we start from a bassline or a guitar riff adding some random words, then we develop the rest of the song (it may take months).
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?.How does inspiration come ?
I write all the lyrics. Most of the texts are about my own feelings: paranoia, sadness, love, anguish etc.. Most of the times inspiration come directly from Claudio’s guitar.
Why the name TANKS AND TEARS ?
We choose that name for the band after reading an Italian newspaper carrying the headline “Tanks and tears at Hugo Chavez’s funeral” or something like that. It was the day after he died.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I like Nine Inch Nails, The Soft Moon, Drab Majesty and a bunch of other dark stuff.
I’m a Grunge lover, Nirvana is my favorite band, but I also listen to other stuff like Shoegaze and ‘new’ bands like A Place To Bury Strangers.
Lately I’ve been listening to some ‘new’ darkwave bands like Drab Majesty, The Soft Moon, Soft Kill and others, but I love all the good music.
Generally, what's the reaction of the public during your concerts ?
It depends on location, generally it’s an interesting and curios public, we are not famous so we are like some kind of surprise for those who come to our gigs.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
For me it was last April in our hometown, Prato. We were as opening act for Soviet Soviet and it was a great thrill for us to share the stage with them
The first one with Tanks and Tears, in 2013. Because I’ve never sang in public before.
For me it was 2 years ago in Crema (IT) in a little pub called ‘’Il Paniere’’ because people were excited and wrapped up in the show.. I didn’t expect this..
