What’s the story for IN SANCTITATE,BENIGNITATIS NON MISERETUR !?
We wanted to use the perfect canons of european music (hevy metal, goth, electronic and classic music), to shoot this message to Europeans: we don’t believe in any “world music”; so, stop with silly mercy, pietism and goodness deserved to the “melting-pot project” of globalism. To preserve the real sanctity, we need to destroy that mediocre goodness called “politically correct”.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
I’m the founder, leader and director of Deviate Damaen, but all members are called to compose, play and perform our art in every possible ways, from masturbation’s sound to classic instruments. The band needs the full forces, ideas and energies of all members to fight our aesthetic war. Then we use to share lots of collaborations with many musicians and bands (Corazzata Valdemone, Hanormale, Stormlord, Aborym, Ianva, Zeta Zero Alfa, Apolokia, Menschliche Energie, Black Shine Fever, Immortadell …) to boost up many creative synergies
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
I’m the composer. The main meaning-line of this album is based on the claim of occidental identity of our forms and spirit. I deeply guess that european culture is under attack of the globalism and of a bad nichilistic will of self-destruction. So,I hardly believe that every brave western artist have the duty to stop this artistic holocaust and recover the proud to be the prosecution of what our ancesters (Greek, Romans, Germans) have deserved for us. We fight the giacobinism, the mondialism, the feminism; we fight the globalist attempt to regress young Europeans to the stage of primates using rap music as brainwashing
Why the name DEVIATE DAMAEN ?
Well, it sounds like musicians who don’t care about rules, labels, press and public; we just seek our instinct and will of jerk off at the mirror.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
Well, my first love has been the band of Dead or Alive. But we are mostly involved in goth, punk, metal, classic and experimental music. Some bands that I could name as reference for Deviate Damaen are Sisters Of Mercy, Candlemass, Mercyful Fate, The Damned, Lords of the new church, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Venom and Christian Death.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your album ?...etc.…
Deviate Damaen always use to record their operas not just in studio but also inside natural gorges, caves, crypts and churches, military bunkers and lake bottoms, to use their natural reverbs and sacral auras. For example, if we sing about Aeneas deeds, I need to go to the real historical places where he was and where is still possible breath the resounding echoes of ancient warriors and defenders of our ground as him.
