What’s the story behind for MARTYR ?

“Martyr is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. I started collecting songs for a full length album around the end of 2015 and then Rocky Gray contacted me at the beginning of 2016 and we got collaborating right away. It took two years to finish around Cradle of Filth’s heavy writing schedule, but we did it!”

Your compositions and your texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

“A lot of this album is about a difficult relationship, but the other common theme is confronting injustice and also standing up for yourself. I’m really happy with all the stories on this album. It’s been quite the journey.”

Are you day or night ?

“Depends on what’s going on. When it’s business I am up early mornings and thinking with that brain, but my best creativity comes at night so I tend to stay up later when I’m writing.”

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

“I obviously love to compose and sing gothic rock and numetal, but I’m a really big fan of Trip-Hop, Witch House, and black metal.”

What’s your top 5 albums of all time ?

1. Evanescence - Fallen
2. Evanescence - The Open Door
3. The Birthday Massacre - Violet
4. Vespertine - Bjork
5. Untouchables - Korn.

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your first album solo ?...etc.…

“It was over all really good and creative. A lot of learning, questioning, and experimenting. But working with everyone on the music created a really great atmosphere. We were all so excited.”

How does it work for the great design of the CD ? and why this title ?

“The artist who did all the artwork is a Russian illustrator and animator by the name of Anastasia Solti. I named the album “Martyr” after I realized a reoccurring theme on the album had a lot to do with “standing by what you believe in” but also maybe even dying for it too.”

How was the shooting of the clip SAVIOR ? and why this choice ?

“It was an incredible experience. I didn’t choose a church just for the sake of it. It really matched the lyrics and story of the song.
