Hey there, we're THE SILVERBLACK, we play industrial metal and have been around for a bunch of years now, we have just released our fourth album PROTOTYPE 6:17 along with three videos to promote it: Prototype, Embers and Carnivogue, that you should check out on YouTube coz they're pretty cool. We're actually playin' some warm-up gigs and we'll embark on small European tour in 2020; at the same time we're already working on a bunch of new ideas for our next release that will arrive late 2020 and will feature a huge collaboration with a very well-known singer from the States, but that's all I can say about it at the moment.

What’s the story for PROTOTYPE 6:17 ?

the previous album “Rain On A Wedding Day” was a very dark and melancholic record, so we wanted to write something more direct and energetic to switch the mood up a little. We didn't intentionally changed our sound, we simply wrote more direct and heavy songs because we felt we needed some more energy in our music and PROTOTYPE 6:17 is the result, an album we are really proud of and that represents perfectly our creative identity at the moment.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

NEROARGENTO writes, records and produces all the music in his studio, he usually gives me a demo version of the track so I can write and lay down the vocal parts, then we decide how to split the vocals and work on all the harmonies until the track is complete... It's a really fast process, we go straight to the core of the song and nail it down as fast as we can, then he spends a lot of time working on arrangements perfecting the form of all the parts, but we really try to get the core of the song done as fast as possible to avoid losing the excitement you usually feel as soon as an idea for a possible track comes to your mind... the sooner it gets recorded the better it is.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

I write the lyrics and the inspiration mainly comes from life itself... there's a lot of negativity in the lyrics, I basically use them to get all the negative and destructive shit out of my system and it's always been this way. I never wrote a happy song in my whole life and probably never will , but that's my approach to music and at least is authentic. I'm not sending a message or anything like that, I simply describe how I feel and my point of view on the outside world and considering how fucked up and horrible the times we're living in are you can easily guess the overall mood of my lyrics.

Why the name THE SILVERBLACK ?

Ah, because NEROARGENTO is an egocentric megalomaniac and in the very beginning named the band after his own stage name simply switching it from Italian to English ahah probably thinking that this was goin' to be another solo project... then I came in and we started writing songs and releasing records, so this was his own solo project no more, but we kept the name coz it sounds cool and we like it... and I can bitch about it in every interview pissing him off ahahah.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

everything that sounds good. When I was a kid I used to listen to metal and metal only, then growing older I discovered that a good song is a good song, no matter the style, so I basically started to listen to everything that sounded good to me. You'll always find bands like Iron Maiden, Danzig, Type O Negative, Rammstein, Alice Cooper, Fear Factory, Ghost and so on in my playlist tho, just to name a few, because that's the music I love most.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

In 2014 I went to Tokyo for a few gigs and that's been quite an experience, everything was over the top and it remains my best live memory so far.

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your album ?...etc.…

the atmosphere is always great in the studio to be honest, when creating new music most of the times I start a sentence and NEROARGENTO finishes it, just to explain you how connected we are, musically speaking, so it's always fun to work in the studio on new material.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

the title was the first thing that came to my mind after listening to the demo of the first song NEROARGENTO wrote for this album... I wanted it to sound like a combination of new & old at the same time, so I took the word Prototype , that has quite a cyber, modern feel to it and mixed with a verse from the book of Revelation, the 6:17 to be precise, to complete it with a more apocalyptic mood... I usually try to put in words what I visualize in my mind listening to our music and considering that the verse goes « For the great day of his wrath has come and who shall be able to stand? » the title Prototype 6:17 sounded perfect to describe the mood of the record. Then I started to surf the net for an image that could work as a cover and a friend of mine suggested me this amazing artist called Noel Guard. As soon as I checked his work I knew he was the right guy for us and I can already tell you that he will paint the cover artwork for our future albums as well. Thematically speaking we have a trilogy of albums in mind , Prototype 6:17 being the first, to go along with this apocalyptic-cyber mood we're in at the moment and Noel's art is the perfect fit for this kind of music.

How was the shooting of the clip PROTOTYPE ? and why this choice ?

it was fun, we realized we didn't have a video showing us playin' with the newest members despite them being in the band for a while now, so we decided to go for a very simple video of just us playin' the track in a white space, then the director , Mattia Di Matera, did an amazing job while editing the video putting a shitload of digital effects adding a great cyber-feel to it.

With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?

we're currently signed with the German label darkTunes Music Group and they recently introduced us to a German booking agency called Eventmanagement-ffm so I can already anticipate that Germany will see more live activity in the near future from The Silverblack for sure.

What are your projects ?

well, we're all pretty busy with other projects besides being in The Silverblack... I have my other band called Disarmonia Mundi and we have a new record coming out next year, NEROARGENTO will be releasing his new solo record too and he's been producing IVAN KING's first solo EP as well, it should be out in a couple of months or so... Besides, as I said, already working on The Silverblack's next record... We like to keep ourselves busy.

What's your motto ?

work hard and never give up... and if things don't go the way you planned work even harder.
