Hello RYU readers!!!! We are Voices of Galadh, a Spanish band from Galicia. We were born in April 2019 and if you like Prog melodic gothic metal check our songs!
What’s the story behind WONDERING ?
Pilar (the singer) and I, Jordi (the bassist) met each other in another band called Dharma. That band spent most of the time in the rehersal but didn't work outside in concerts or promotion. We began to work in a new project after Dharma was done, and we thought about making things in a different way. We have called the first album Wondering because we are wondering how the band it's going to work making things differently.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
Most of the composing job was made by Pilar and me. She has made the majority of the vocal melodies and all the lyrics and I've made almost all the instrumental composing work. We have a home studio in our house and we are a good team.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
The lyrics are written by Pilar, they are very sincere because they talk about the deepest emotions and feelings.
The inspiration for this album comes mainly from an inner search to find your own path in diverse areas of life, and from all those barriers that we need to overcome, whether self-imposed or imposed by society.
At the same time they are quite demanding, but in a more spiritual sense, talking about the inner awakening and about the love and compassion that we should feel for all manifestations of life.
Why the name VOICES OF GALADH ?
It's not easy to find a name for a band because there are a lot of bands and you have to choose an original one. We were looking for something original and we consider ourselves quite ecologists and we love epic movies.
Voices of Galadh means the voices of the trees. Galadh is an elven name that means tree. We chose that name because we wish a better world where the voice of other species could be heard.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
Well, there is an important difference between my personal influences and the influences for VOG music, because I love listening to lots of different bands and genres. The main influences of VOG music are prog metal, bands such as Ayreon, Opeth or Orphaned Land. And my favourite band is Mr Bungle, but I think that VOG hasn't any influences from Mr Bungle.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for the album ?...etc.…
The atmosphere was really good because we find a very nice people to work to. The producer was a friend of us before the record of the album.
How does it work for the great design of the CD ? and why this title ?
The artwork was made by Nolo of Dark memories, he understood what we were looking for. It was perfect for us. The cover selected was the first and the only one that he gave us to check. There are lots of people that think that the woman in the cover is Pilar, our singer, that is funny cause actually... she's not. But the cover absolutely fits with the band style, you can see a forest, a lake, some trees in the mist... we love the colors, it's fantastic.
How was the shooting of the clip NEW BIRTH ? and why this choice ?
New birth was the first song that me and my wife Pilar made for that project. She found the inspiration for the lyrics in the birth of the band and our new life together. The lyrics of this song talk about all these things, for this reason it's a good choice for releasing a new band.
Did you find a label ? If yes, how do you made the research ?
We don't have a label yet. We think that is necessary to have good content if you want to find a good label. They need something to see about you like a nice live video or a good portfolio. We'll have that material in a few weeks though.
With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?
As I already mentioned in the previous question, management and booking is something that we are still working on. However, we are considering to remain independent as nowadays it could be a better way. But of course we are open to good offers that we might get.
What are your projects ?
Our most immediate projects are the live shows and getting to share our music with the audience. After that we will try to expand our music as far as we can.
What do you expect from the future ?
We have good expectations for the future. We think that our music is original and nice to listen to.
I reckon that metal music is rising from a lazy season. There has been more movement in the last years and it's a good moment to work hard in a metal band.
What's your motto ?
Our motto is to do music with the power of metal but sweet vocals as it was made by the elvens.
