Present yourself to the readers
Hello, we are Inner Blast, a Portuguese metal band from Lisbon in 2006, composed of four elements, Aquiles Dias (guitar), Liliana Silva (voice), Luis Silva (bass) and Nuno Sabu ( drums).
What’s the story for FIGMENT OF THE IMAGINATION ?
Figment of the imagination is an album that comes almost in response to the end of a more troubled moment of the band, with several inputs and outputs in a short time, and culminating in the band's adaptation to quartet. This album is almost like a proof of life, demonstrating that despite the setbacks, we are alive, focused, and ready to continue working.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
We do not have a service composer. Most of the themes are born during a jam in the rehearsal room, which are later explored and developed into a song. Then each one freely composes the line of his instrument and together we seek to come up with a final product with which everyone identifies.
We don't really have big rules and it is a process that happens naturally and without barriers.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
In this album, it was Liliana Silva who wrote all the lyrics, and “Figment of the imagination” is an album that deals with various themes, but which is based above all on themes of our society, ranging from armed conflicts to through personal relationships, to mythology and religion. As for inspiration, it comes almost entirely from the perception of the world in which we live.
Why the name INNER BLAST ?
When we formed the band, choosing the name, we looked for something to identify with and fit the sound we make. Inner Blast can be seen both from the side of the fury and revolt that wells up within us all, as well as from the perspective of an inner outburst of openness that allows us to look at the world more broadly. In the background, an explosion of sensations.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
This will possibly be the factor that most influences the sound of the band, since we all have different tastes, although with commonalities. We have a rocker, a hard'n heavy fan, a thrasher and a death metal fan ... influences come from all over. We never tried to follow a certain label or category, we just do what we like, and when it is no longer, the essence is lost.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
The best memory is undoubtedly the one of the first concert, since that's where it all began and this trip began, but also of the concert we opened for Moonspell, not only because of its size, but essentially because it marked the beginning of a new phase, as shortly after we were entering the studio to record our first album, “Prophecy”.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…
The whole process proceeded very smoothly and without great pressure. Although there was a deadline for completion of the work, it was not something that affected us or created points of concern. Our biggest doubt, above all, was what the public's reaction to the new work would be, especially due to the change of costume, as we abdicated the keyboards and became a quartet.
How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?
This was a job that we left entirely in the hands of our great friend and companion Telmo Alcobia. Although we were called upon to express our opinion as the design progressed, the whole creative process is his and we were very pleased with the end result. The choice of the title had to do above all, not so much with the music itself, but because it expresses well the uncompromised and free way we launched ourselves into this production ... barrier-free, open-minded and literally letting the imagination work .
What are your projects ?
At this moment the focus is on the promotion of the album, and for that purpose, we expect to do as many concerts as possible, in order to reach an increasing number of people. For now, the big goal is to grow as a band and show the music we do. Only later will we think about returning to the studio.
What's your motto ?
Doing what we like, and having a group of people who apart from bandmates, are above all friends, is motivation enough, but I think we have the same goals as all other bands, to be recognized for our work, enjoy what we do, and grow ... also in the international market.

What would you like to say to the readers ?
Remember that all the great bands that we all like today, also started in a garage, taking their first steps in the underground scene of the city where they were born, so support the bands at the beginning of their career, because there are there is very good music to be made, and for all tastes. Stay metal.
Thanks for the upkeep
