Hello friends !
We will discover the universe of A MONSTER UNDER MY BED but especially their new album.
Present yourself to the readers
We're A Monster Under My Bed, a progressive deathcore band from Barcelona, who after 4 long years since our formation has released our first EP.
What’s the story for PHOBIA?
"PHOBIA" is the name of this first EP of ours. It narrates, in five stages, the most common fears we all have or have had (or will have) during our lifetime. The way we felt or feel them and, in a deeper lecture, how to overcome them.
Who composes?...How does it work in the band?
We always try to mix all the ideas of all the members. In general, every member specializes in his own instrument, but focusing on our influences in common. Once an idea is created, we check it with the other members, and we try to evolve it in community to achieve the result we search.
Who writes the texts?..What are they talking about?..How does inspiration come?
The overall concept is coined and discussed with all the band. The lyrics are written by our vocalist, in this five pieces, the lyrics talk about the human fears, the oldest emotion of mankind. Each song is based on a main fear of a certain time in life. For example, as a child you fear the dark and that's the concept of the first track, Murk. Inspiration comes from introspection and meditation about the things we talk about and the memories of the events that can be linked and used as a way to talk about something so abstract as a human emotion.
Why the name A MONSTER UNDER MY BED?
In fact we don't really know much about the origin of the name. Andreu, our bassist, during the celebration of his birthday got the idea for the name, and we all loved it. We always thought it represents all these terrifying things that are closer than we think, even we can't really see them.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences?
All our influences came from the emerging djented genres that mix groovy riffs, hard breakdowns and ambiental transitions that create a solid unity envolving the listener in our own atmosphwre. Some bands that we consider as direct influences could be Veil of Maya, Volumes, Reflections, Lorna Shore, Make them Suffer or After the Burial
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your E.P.?...etc.…
We are really proud of the job that our producer Jona de Haro did in the studio. Specially getting the exact atmosphere and texture we wanted for a concept like this. He understood the idea at first listen and got it with master hands.
How does it work for the design of the CD? and why this title?
The cover art was done by Alejandro Gómez, we told him about the concept, some classic horror references we like, and the color palette we associate to the overall atmosphere. He ended up with the image you see as cover for the EP brilliantly. The title "PHOBIA", stands for the whole concept based in human fears
.
With Management and booking, how do you work? And with whom?
Since today, mostly of our lives are booked by ourselves, contacting directly the venues and the other participating bands. Other times, we were contacted by booking enterprises as Entire Music or Octopuss Prods. When we receive an offer, we study if we can act on the show, all conditions and decide about it.
What are your projects?
Our first objective is to give "PHOBIA" as much shows as we can. Due to all the pandemic setbacks, we're focusing now on developing the concept for the next studio project that will follow "PHOBIA" in the future.
What do you expect from the future?
We expect to expand our music as far as we can, but mostly important, we expect to keep enjoying our work and let other people enjoy it as much as we do.
What's your motto?
What's your motto?
Do whatever you want but make sure it comes from within. Don't let other people's opinions define your art or your craft, just let it flow from your truest self.

What would you like to say to the readers?
We would like to say that, if you can, support your local bands. Be honest with their work, but treat them as you treat a big international band, because the work done it's same hard but the budget is much lesser. All support is always welcome, even in small format, so support your friends who play and support your local bands.
Thanks for the upkeep
