Hello friends !
We will discover the universe of THE DIRTY DENIMS but especially their new album.

Present yourself to the readers

We are The Dirty Denims, we play Happy Hardrock, a mix from Hard Rock, Power Pop, Scandinavian & Australian Rock ‘n Roll and Punk Rock. AC/DC meets Joan Jett meets KISS meets The Ramones. We are from The Netherlands and we are 2 rockchicks and 2 rocking dudes: Suzanne on drums, Mirjam on vocals/guitar, Marc on bass and Jeroen on guitar.

What’s the story for READY,STEADY,GO! ?

It’s our brand new album! We also have a song Ready, Steady, Go!. It’s an uptempo rocker for people who love bands like Airbourne and Thundermother and it tells the story about how much we were looking forward to play again. It’s the first album with Suzanne on drums and Marc on bass.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

Jeroen is our songwriter and it starts most of the time with the guitar: chords or a riff. He works out a demo and then he brings it to the rehearsal room for us to try things on.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

The lyrics start with Jeroen, and often Mirjam finishes some lines. On the new album we have songs about 80’s movie the Gremlins, the bad music on the biggest radio stations these days, alcohol (why not!), annoying people on the public transportation, AC/DC (Thunder From Down Under), H&M bandshirts (Band Not A Brand) and we even have a love song! But we will not tell a lovesong about what 😉

Why the name THE DIRTY DENIMS ?

We are very inspired by all-girl band The Donnas (from USA) and they have a song called Dirty Denims, just put ‘The’ before and a ‘S’ on the end and you have a band name, it’s as simple as that!

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

We played on some big Dutch festivals, Zwarte Cross and Lowlands. They are definitely a few of the coolest ones because it was unexpected amazing. But we also had a lot of great crowds in Germany, like on Nitrofest Hannover and Freak Valley Xmas Fest Siegen. Our own latest Release Party at POPEI Eindhoven was also a dream come true: a house full of people who came especially for us!

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…

We’ve recorded the new album in 2 batches and both were very great experiences. It all went very well and fast and we are very proud of the result. Someone told us it is our ‘Spend The Night’ (the most popular album from The Donnas), that’s really a compliment and we hope it is, because then we finally get known to a bigger Hard Rock crowd then we do now.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

We often name our albums after one of the songs and we like to have very energetic and active album titles, so Ready Steady Go! was a perfect one. Jan Meininghaus did the amazing design, we met him on German festival Punk Meets People and his drawing is amazing. He drew it by hand first and the colour were added on the computer later. We love it!

How was the shooting of the clip READY,STEADY,GO! ? and why this choice ?

Because it’s such an energetic song we just wanted a live setting video. We only played the song a few times and the video crew did an awesome job editing it!

What are your projects ?

We are in the middle of releasing our new album now (it’s out since July 3rd) and we hope to play a lot of live shows. Augustust 23rd we will play in Krefeld (in the South West of Germany) and September 25th in Uden (in the South of The Netherlands), so hope to see you there if you are in for a little roadtrip after a long time without live shows! We hope to play Belgium also again in the future, unfortunately we have no dates planned there yet.

Website to remember

Off course www.thedirtydenims.nl, because there you can let us know if you want free downloads of songs ánd behind the scenes footage from the studio. There you also can find all our merchandise and tour dates.
