Hi everyone! I’m Giorgia, the singer of IT’sALIE, hope you will have some nice times reading this interview!
What’s the story for LILITH ?
I’ve always shared the role of singer with some other singers in my past albums, IT’sALIE and so Lilith, are born from the necessity of doing something personal and unique, where I’m the only singer, and I can also express myself at 100%, melodies included. So me and Camillo started to talk about the band, and once found the members, we started to write the first songs…The rest is history! :)
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?(for this album)
We work on the songs as a band, we wrote everything together, Mat included. After we had some songs, Mat, me and the band worked hard on each song, every little detail, so everything you’re hearing on the album, is composed by all of us.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?(for this album)
According to meaning of the album title “Lilith”, all the lyrics are mainly talking about deep feelings, hidden thoughts and fears. I wrote most of the lyrics, with the priceless help of Mat. I needed to experience everything I wrote about, the inspiration came naturally just listening to my inner voices.
Why the name IT’sALIE ?
Our name is definitely a name which is different, and that’s how we wanted. It’s a play on words: you can read the word “ITALIE” inside the name, which is of course a tribute to the country we are all from, and you can also read the sentence “ It’s a lie”. Well, the meaning of this phrase is related to our idea of how untruthful our thoughts can be, about how artificial the idea of our reality can be, . Pretty philosophical.
What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?
I’m a rocker, hard rock and rock blues are the music genres I love the most, but I’m listen to e very kind of music, if it’s well done the genre doesn’t really matter. My idols too many for nominating all of them, but If I have to nominate some, I’d say definitely Robert Plant, Janis Joplin, David Coverdale, Ray Gillen, Seal, Biff Byford, Tori Amos, David Crosby, and James Brown.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your first album ?...etc.…
We were all really thrilled and excited to record finally our first baby, the atmosphere was relaxed, but really, really focused. all of us gave the maximum in the studio, and with the priceless help of Mat Sinner, we were really motived in doing out best. We’re so happy of what we’ve done, and as we said, do not change a winning team. We’re looking forward to our next work.
How does it work for the great design of the CD ? and why this title ?
The pictures and the cover of “Lilith” are made by the amazing Ermes Buttolo, an over talented artist and photographer, with the great help and work of Erika Scarlett as make up artist. As for the videoclips, we wanted a team of work which was really involved in everything, so we called the artists we thought could have been perfect for us. We weren’t wrong. Our “Lilith”, is the astrological Black Moon. From this point of view, Lilith is associated with the more hidden, mysterious aspects of the feminine archetype, which is living in all of us both man and women, with independence, rebelliousness, pride and strength. Lilith reveals what makes us feel most exposed, it shows also the dark side of everyone's personality, and as I said, all the lyrics are talking about exactly these aspects of the humans.
How was the shooting of the clip WIND ? and why this choice ?
It was pure fun, we worked with two amazing video makers, Simone Vrech and Alessandro Galliera at BASE2 Video Factory. Simone had everything in his mind, we didn’t had a clue of the final result, we just trusted him, and we’re over happy with the final videoclip.
With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?
Mat Sinner is our producer and he’s taking care of the management as well. Currently we’re talking with different booking agencies, we will have news soon.
What are your projects ?(for the band)
We’re already working on a second album, so one of the main focus we have is to compose new stuff. Of course we would love to tour and have shows as soon as it will be possibile again as well.
What do you expect from the future ?
To having shows with my lovely band, and having fantastic times in the studio again. Being happy, that’s it.
