What’s the story for STORMBREAKER ?

The new album “Stormbreaker” continues a conceptual trilogy called “The Book of Scarlet”, which consists of 3 albums and accompanying fantasy books. The first part of the trilogy started with the “Hot’n’Heavy” album, which was released in March 2019 and the first book – “The Book of Scarlet – Ignition”.
The trilogy tells a story of Scarlet, a character that is a born by the sacrifice of a Phoenix bird, an angel and a devil to bring balance back on Earth. He’s neither good, neither bad as he meets all his maker’s ups and downs but his intention is to be a bringer of peace.
His story is inspired from our real life and the songs come and can be applied separately from the fantasy behind the trilogy. Mihai and I thought that fans need a deeper introduction into our world and explanation of our messages, of course, in a fantasy matter.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

The songs are written by Mihai Danciulescu, Scarlet Aura’ guitarist and producer. Mihai comes up with the song names and creates musical stories that are inspired by himemories, events or experiences. After initial demo version of the album is laid out, drums, bass, guitars and finally vocals are being recorded.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

The texts are written by me. When Mihai writes the song, he explains what the song is about, inspiration behind it and I come up with the lyrics. I am inspired every day by everything and everyone, including my own way of seeing life, I have to admit, most of the times I dive into my own self and search inside like a child searches in the Santa`s bag. I am a curious person, I love to learn, to do research, I am passioned about emotions and how does it feel, I am passioned about reactions of every sort and in general about life and it`s pshychology and our reactions to it and I guess from all that lyrics go one after another and then the fantasy novels and literature go to life…

Why the name SCARLET AURA ?

Me and Mihai Danciulescu started this project in 2014th under the name “Aura”, when we released the first album “The Rock Chick” and after winning the Battle of The Bands in Bulgaria at Kavarna Rock Fest. We changed our name into “Scarlet Aura” in 2015th. Our music is energy, is ambition, is power, is light, love, is electric and when we play it, it becomes an aura that surrounds us, a scarlet aura. Then this character was born – Scarlet that can be anyone… even you!

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

The best was in 2011 when me and Mihai played with our ex band as opening act for Bon Jovi in front of 60000 people… Then with Scarlet Aura the best one was every other new live appearance as we always tried to give our best, to be better and to grow our fanbase for another playing for at least 60k one day at our own show….

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your album ?...etc.…

Mihai is an amazing song writer but also producer so it is a pleasure to work with him, we get inovative, we change a lot, we try different things and we get to choose together the best version or the one we love most so it is amazing to work in the studio, we are always excited to work on new material.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

The name of the album usually comes from one the song titles. Stormbreaker is the second the album in the trilogy and continues to tell the story of Scarlet.
In Hot'n'Heavy we had Scarlet at the beginning of an ending world, a world without the conscience of good and bad and his task is to bring balance back and save humanity. It's not easy but he succeeded and we have the songs with powerful feelings that depicted this journey that can be anytime mirrored with our own self, our own destruction, our own rebirth.
On the cover of Stormbreaker we have, on the other hand, a Scarlet that is looking over people, a hero the world called for, the hero that everyone can have and that will make humanity go beyond its own limitations.
For the design of the artwork we teamed up with Dragos Dicu, a Romanian artist, and shared with him our vision and the story and he created the artwork. The final touches and variations for CD and Vinyl releases were done by Tatyana Shubina, our management and record label partner.

How was the shooting of the clip BATTLE CRY ? and why this choice ?

Battle Cry is the second single from the Stormbreaker album, with first one being an amazing ballad “High in the Sky”.
The video was shot almost entirely in black and white reflecting the message behind the song.
We wake up one day turned into mimes, doing things on repeat on and on... Open your eyes and turn back that mime into a unique person that you are give yourself your voice back and scream that Battle Cry!
Battle Cry is an invitation to fight your own demons, to fight those who keep you grounded, to fight the fights you ran from your entire life and bring yourselves from mimes back into human being.

What are your projects ?

Mihai is currently busy finishing the third and last album in the trilogy, that we plan to release in 2021. Myself, I am working on the book - the second volume of the trilogy, which is called - Scarlets United. We plan to release it later this year.
We also have scheduled a big European-wide tour in September - October 2020 joining Primal Fear and Freedom Call as special guests with 24 concerts in Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary and Czech Republic. So come and see us where you can – it will be unforgettable experience.
