Hey all you lovely people! We are a female fronted modern melodic metal band from Sweden. We started playing together three years ago under another band name, but with some changes in our band we also decided to change band namn. So from the start of December you all know us as ” Reclaim the Silence”.
Reclaim the silence are: Erika ”Rejka” Jonsson on lead vocals, Sebastian Elmlund on Growl, backup vocals and guitar, Daniel Delin on backup vocals and guitar and Rasmus ”raz” Engstrand on drums. We are currently searching for a bass guitar player.
What’s the story for NEW BEGINNING ?
The story of ”new beginning” is not to exiting, its easy, we started all over and decided to release all our songs in an album and then name it ”new beginning” due to what we are settling in for. A Fresh start, a new beginning!
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
Sebastian and Daniel are the composers, they do songs together and on their own. Then when they are done sitting at home composing they bring a rough ”demo” (they are playing the songs live in the rehearsal studio) and Rejka always points out the ”wrongs” in the songs and make it all better. This is a way that works pretty good for us.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
Rejka always write the lyrics, except for the song ”not enough”. Daniel wrote the lyrics to this song. The texts talk about many things, it all depends on the song. But mostly the texts are inspired by some kind of real event who has stuck in the heart or mind. Maybe from a broken heart or an unfair treatment of you etc. it’s all for the listerners to decide what the song means to them. Thats the main point of the songs, listen and have you own opinion.
Why the name RECLAIM THE SILENCE ?
RECLAIM THE SILENCE, another way to say ”hush” to the ”demons” in your head. You know the feeling when you have so much stuff going on, you are struggling and you just want some peace and quiet.. We want to help you get that peace and quiet through our songs, so you can reclaim the silence.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
We have different memories that we think are the best. One was our journey far north in Sweden, Luleå, where we played at ”wacken metal battle”, because this is the first ever gig Daniel did with us and our ”family bond” started to take form. Then we have the greatest gig we ever did, Sweden Rock Festival 2019, where we stood on the biggest stage we ever done, the whole thing was amazing with such a big crowd cheering us on and sang along with us. Then our latest gig in Gothenburg, where we really came together as the band family we want to be and decided on a new begging.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…
Our Latest Album was recorded in our former bass guitar players living room. The atmosphere was very stressed, Because we where fashionably late with everything. Our planing of this album wasn’t too great. But in the and the album came out pretty good. We will not do this mistake again tho. It’s supposed to be fun to make an album, not to feel stressed while doing it.
How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?
As we said befor the title of the album come from our new beginning in the band. A fresh start. All the covers are made by Sebastian with a little help from the other band members if the have any cool ideas. But the head designer is Sebastian.
How was the shooting of the clip ONE FOR ALL ? and why this choice ?
One For All is an anti bullying song and for this video we collaborated with ”metal heads against bullying”. The idea of this video was to record it in a school where we believe the most bullying happens. The whole experience at the shooting site was beyond anything we ever done before, but it was super fun, hard work, laughters, pizza, love and metal! We think the editor Christina actually had 9 hours of footage in the end of this day. And yes, we did it all in one day.
With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?
We have never had a management or booking firm behind us before, so everything has gone though us. But we will soon start a testing period with a new management, new on the market. So we will see how it turns out. But booking partly still goes though us.
What are your projects ?
Our main project right now is to find a bass guitar player and also focus on making new song. We have some gigs booked for this years as well.
What's your motto ?
Our motto is simple and we try to use it and spread it every day ” Love And Metal”. The world need more love!
