Hello. I’m a band leader and drummer of a Finnish melodic doom metal band Red Moon Architect.
What’s the story for EMPTINESS WEIGHS THE MOST ?
It’s an album about mental healing process and about growing as a person. Our previous album ”Kuura” was the darkest album we’ve ever released and this new album is quite a big of a contrast to it.
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
I’ve composed all the songs, except one track on our new album. It’s written by our guitarist Taneli. It has worked well so far. Everyone in the band can compose and bring ideas if they wish, but so far most of the music is composed by myself.
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
I also write 90% of the lyrics. Anni has wrote some of the songs. Usually it’s a really difficult process for me and doesn’t come out naturally. But it’s also the most rewarding part of the album process. They talk about the melancholic and darker side of human mind. Also about the light in the end of the tunnel. There’s always a spark of light in darkness.
Why the name RED MOON ARCHITECT ?
Red Moon as itself is such a cool visually. Blood moon has also a lot of different meanings and believes in old mythology. And after all, I just found it as a cool name. Nothing too deep in that.
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
There are so many. Our last stream show was a great experience for me, but maybe a full audience in Tuska festival some years back has been the most memorable for me.
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?…etc.…
The atmosphere is more present in pre production phase, when I’m composing and recording demos. In the studio after that it’s more about getting the technical process nailed down.
How does it work for the great design of the CD ? and why this title ?
The album title is quite of a statement that I personally believe is true. It describes well the state I was in, when composing the new songs. A great Greece designer Gogo Melone has been our graphic artist for some time now.
How was the shooting of the clip RISE ? and why this choice ?
It’s the most catchy song from the album. It’s also so different than our previous ones, that I thought it’s an interesting choice for the first single. Shooting the video wasn’t too easy, because of the covid restrictions and all, but it turned out to be awesome!
With Management and booking, how do you work ? And with whom ?
Right now we’re under Nordic Cult Management that is a company of one of my good friend. He handles some of the booking, but we don’t have any specific agency for it, for now.
What are your projects (for the band) ?
Once the world stops to burn, we hope we could get back on stage and arrange some tours outside Finland.
What's your motto ?
I don’t think I have any.
