What’s the story for AFTER ALL ?
AFTER ALL is our first recording after approximately 15 years. It has to do with facing all the setbacks and vicissitudes that we´ve had through the years, we as a band, and as human beings, and despite every obstacle that life can give you, here we are ... After all we continue doing what we love to do, what fills our souls and hearts
Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?
Since the band’s inception, way back in 1984 and we have been composing our own material in CRONOS, most of the songs were written by Eduardo Sáez (drums and backing vocals), lyrics and Facundo Coral (guitars), music. Obviously, the arrangements are generally created by the whole band, with the participation of the musicians who have been with us in all these years
Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?
Even though most of the lyrics had been written by Saez, any member of the band can write a lyric for any song. Our lyrics are basically based on, our own experiences in life, reflection, conscience, complaint; what we really try to do is to give a message in each lyric, that way always there is something to say, inspiration is something that comes in a moment, there are lyrics that were written in a minute, others may take a lot longer, it is something a bit unpredictable
Why the name CRONOS ?
The name originally comes from Facundo’s early fanaticism after the band Venom. At the beginning of the 80's he used to listen to this band a lot, and the name of Cronos always seemed great and enormously powerful to him, besides it has an impressive, strong and very rich mythological history. The God of Time, Symbol of Creation … in a few words it means … art and universe
What's your best live memory ? And why ?
Always the best memory is about the first time the band performed live, that first moment always leads a band moving forward or not! to make it or break it! The crowd's response! … There was a concert we did in a theater called Mata de Coco (a very important venue in Caracas, Venezuela in the late 80´s and early 90´s) , which was memorable, those moments when the band is perfectly aligned with the crowd, that is one of the best memories, anyway all live performances have their own colors, their own anecdotes, it is the best moment of the day, that couple of hours when we’re onstage playing, this is the reason why we still keep on making music!
In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…
The studio work for this new album, was quite arduous and complicated. We composed, arranged, produced, and recorded the album from three different countries where the members of the band lives. Venezuela, Argentina, and Mexico. I think that everything led to this album having its own ¨sonic freshness¨ in terms of ourselves. Every step we took in its creation was a total joy that drove us to continue it. The main idea of After All and the sound of the band, is currently, to combine classic 80´s Metal, with sharp voices, harmonics, sharp guitars, solos and harmonies, with a more powerful sound in the rhythmic part of bass and drums, such more updated, double bass drum, some Groove, and also some choruses with guttural voices where the song requires it!
