Hello friends !
We will discover the universe of GHOST AVENUE but especially their new album.

What’s the story for EVEN ANGELS FAIL ?

3 years had passed since our previous release “Impact” and it was time to have a go at another one. “Impact” was a concept album with a storyline throughout the album, but with “Even Angels Fail” we’re back to single songs without any theme binding them together. The songs goes through different types of subjects. The process was quite similar to the way we have worked before – writing, rehearsing and demoing everything before entring the studio with a quite clear plan for where we would end up.

Why the name GHOST AVENUE ?

The band started out in 2002 as just “Ghost”, without any good explanation on picking that name, guess it just sounded great! :) Fast forward a bunch of years and a now quite famous band from Sweden came out of nowhere and did quite well. So we decided that we had to get a new name to avoid all the comparisons and confusions with the swedes. We were quite happy with our logo and wanted to add something to “Ghost”, so after a lot of discussions we ended up with “Ghost Avenue” - referring to something in the line of walking down the memory lane as, even though we feel we give it a more modern touch, our roots go back to the 80s hard rock / heavy metal scene.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

We’ve had some great shows over the years, but the best live memory have to be when we did a support gig for W.A.S.P. at Rockefeller in Oslo, Norway in 2017. Sold out show with one of our childhood hero’s at a legendary venue with great response from the audience – that was magic!

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…

The studio experience this time around was quite similar to the last album, at least in the start. Same studio/engineer as last time (Lionheart Studios with Øyvind Voldmo Larsen), although different location. Our drummer started out mid January of this year, spending 2 weeks doing his parts. Then we had 2 months to track all guitars/bass ourselves and then Corona happen just as we finished the string parts of the album. Some back and forth and us wanting to finish the album led to our vocalist Kim borrowing some equipment and setting up a recording booth in his garage to do his vocal parts. So apart from some unforseen issues and some delays we got it done, and it turned out great! At least we’re really happy with the result!

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

The artwork is done by Jobert Mello at Sledgehammer Graphix – a great guy from Brazil that also did the artwork for our previous album “Impact”. The title was chosen from the last song on the record “Even Angels Fail” as we think it’s a great song and that it also have a quite visual title and lyrics suitable for some cover art. Jobert got the lyrics and freedom to make something based on his interpretation, and it turned out great! The song is about the struggles of good and evil in a persons mind, and that the evil side can win in everyones head from time to time.

How was the shooting of the clip BEST OF THE BEST ? and why this choice ?

We had a lot of plans for videos for singles from this release, but then the Corona virus put a stop to everything involving us getting together to make a video. So we decided to go for an animated video just to get something visual to support a song. “Best of the Best” is the opener of the album and a favourite of all of us, and it also have what we believed was a good storyline to make a video from. The video is directed by Mikkel Haugsrud Hauge from “Produksjon Norge” and we’re quite happy with the result! Mikkel also directed our previous video for “Time Traveller” from the “Impact” album.

What are your projects (for the band) ?

Our original plans now where to play a bunch of shows in Scandinavia – we had 12 shows lined up, but sadly due to Covid we’re in the process of postponing at least the August/September gigs. They will happen, we’re just unsure of when. Apart from that we work on promoting the new album in all ways possible and we’ll commit even more time to this process until we can play live again !

What's your motto ?

We don’t have an outspoken motto, but we’re quite clear on our goals for the band. We want to make music that we like without thoughts to what is “in” or not, play live as much as we can and to have as much fun as possible in doing so!
