Hello friends !
We will discover the universe of VANISHING POINT but especially their New album Dead Elysium.

What’s the story for DEAD ELYSIUM ?

The story is simple….
This album would best be described as a combination of years of emotion building up to one point and an explosion of relief. Elysium to my mind is a place of complete eternal bliss.. but this album paints a different picture of heart ache, dissapointment, anger, frustration but there is a glimmer of hope and that’s where I believe where the I would like to shift your focus to. Not everything is so grim. ;-}

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ? (for this album)

My guitarist Chris Porcianko is the main composer for this album, from all of the orchestral symphonic parts of the album to song structures. James our other guitarist then put’s in his input with riffs and solos. Then of course what I call the legs of music drums and bass follow with each individual flare. Adrian Alimic played some outstanding bass.

Who writes the texts lyrics ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ? (for this album)

Once we have a basis for each song I get together with the boys to go over vocal melodies and an idea’s of how the sound of the vocal should sound we work around that melody to fit in lyrics. Chris is an amazing lyricist he definitely has some good flow we really work well together.
Our Lyrics in our songs are based on our own life experience’s. Its easier to write about something that you have lived or have gone through.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

Oh there are many… our show at ProgPowerUSA was special as it was our 1st USA show, but playing to a sell out show Tokyo Japan was amazing but nothing compares to playing in front of 60,000 people at Wacken Germany. But the most memorable show I remember was the last show we did on the Gammaray Tour. we were support along with Sonata Arctica … when Tony Kakko was singing with his band I can recall walking out on stage in their home town of Helsinki almost naked waring nothing but one sock, it was there I thought it was a great idea to shave! Tony Kakko was very obliging to hold my mirror whilst I completed shaving. It was last last show for the long tour and we were all doing funny jokes to each other.

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…

Well for this album it was a difficult process because it took almost 2 years to complete. So going in and out of the studio at various times made it difficult to achieve a good atmosphere. But we did try to do our best under the circumstances. I was hospitalized on 2 occasions and having gone through both my mother and father passing away during this time creating this album its only now we can feel a sense of relief and acheivment.

How does it work for the great design of the CD ? and why this title ?

Colin Marks from Rain Song Design created our cover. We wanted something that would best describe Dead Elysium. The song Dead Elysium was one of the first songs we created and we felt it was the right choice to dedicated it as the album title.

How was the shooting of the clip COUNT YOUR DAYS ? and why this choice ?

Filming was done in one day it was soo much fun.
We really wanted to have a live feel to the video and just express what we are like in a live sense. It is the first time that we introduced our new members Damien Hall(drums)and Gaston Chin(bass) It wasn’t easy choosing what song to do but Count Your Days was a good example of what our album was all about so we felt it was a great choice for a video.

What are your projects (for the band) ?

We will keep trying to promote this new album as best we can during our Covid19 lockdown. It will be difficult because we cannot do any live shows. So we will focus on perhaps writing new material.
And perhaps some live streaming shows. So look out for that in the near future!

What's your moto ?

Moto ? i haven’t ever been asked that in an interview. One thing i say to my daughter is that ‘…you can never be a failure if you never stop trying…’ But the one that i personally live by is something very simple ‘…be positive and grateful in life in general…’
