Johan here, guitar player of Starblind since the start.

What’s the story for BLACK BUBBLING OOZE ?

Well, it’s a long story. But we felt we wanted to give some of the songs a face lift, and let Marcus give the a ride. And there’e new material as well of course.

Who composes ?...How does it work in the band ?

We all write material. Most of the time we just throw all songs in a pile and then we pick out what fits the most on the album we wanna do. So there´s never any shortage in material, if I would have a writers block someone else will fill that gap. That takes away a lot off pressure.

Who writes the texts ?..What are they talking about ?..How does inspiration come ?

Mostly Marcus. But me and Zack had to step up and write when Mike left the band.

Why the name STARBLIND ?

It´s just a big and powerful name. Also easy to pronounce and it kinda sticks.

What are your personal musical tastes and your influences ?

I think we all listen to different kinds of music. But as you can hear we are very fond of classic heavy metal.

What's your best live memory ? And why ?

So many to choose from. But it´s always great to play in eastern Europe. People there are really into it 100%

In studio, what was the atmosphere for your new album ?...etc.…

Very relaxed and we had a great flow in everything. We deliberately made sure we had an environment where we could feel like home and just focus on playing the best we can. So we brought Cederick Forsberg to us instead of going to his studio. We did the same on “Never Seen Again” and it worked out really good.

How does it work for the design of the CD ? and why this title ?

It was a collaboration with Timo Wuerz. The title is a quote from the song “At the Mountain of Madness”. We just thought it would make a cool title.

How was the shooting of the clip HERE I AM ? and why this choice ?

We had planned to make a music video for a while when all this global shutdown madness begun. So we just filmed ourselves on our own and put I all together.

What are your projects (for the band) ?

Now we are doing as much promotion work as we can, despite the Covid19 situation. The response has been amazing so far, and we can’t wait to get back on stage again.

What's your motto ?

I don’t really have one except that “every day is unique”. Just get out there and do your best.
